After athletes donated used shoes and other race gear to Soles4Souls at various CHALLENGEFAMILY races earlier this season, they can do so again this coming weekend at CHALLENGEKAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE. Of course this weekend is all about the spectacular race in Austria, and, together with Soles4Souls, CHALLENGEFAMILY continues to contribute to a better sustainability.
CHALLENGEFAMILY organises dozens of triathlons worldwide and CHALLENGEKAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE is a great example of one of these races. Those races all have an impact on the triathlon world. “As a brand we want to become as sustainable as possible,” explains CEO Jort Vlam. “Last year we found a wonderful partner in Soles4Souls and it’s great to see that we can now welcome them in Austria. In this way, we hope to contribute to make every race a more sustainable place.”
This weekend, athletes can dispose of their used shoes and clothes at the specially designated place at CHALLENGEKAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE, something that provides several advantages. “It increases sustainability, because by putting unwanted shoes and clothing to good use, textiles are kept out of landfills. It increases health because shoes and clothes prevent injuries and illnesses and they provide dignity to people in need, and it increases opportunities because micro-entrepreneurs sell shoes and clothing to build businesses and support their families”, stated by Soles4Souls.
Vlam continues. “As CHALLENGEFAMILY, we enjoy our races every year and love to see hundreds of thousands of athletes enjoying our sport. But at the same time we are very aware that we can use precisely this huge group of enthusiastic, sporty and passionate people to work together towards a better future for our fellow men. It’s all about enjoying our daily lives, our family and our future.”
