CHALLENGE KAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE will take place in June

Good news for all triathletes! We are very happy to announce that the race will take place as scheduled from June 24th to 27th 2021. Only Challenge Women (5km women’s run) we have to cancel unfortunately as this is a popular sport event that is currently not feasible. But we are particularly happy that we can make the Junior Challenge possible for our young athletes.

The safety of all involved has top priority. A comprehensive prevention concept, which has been developed together with experts, ministries and the Austrian Triathlon Association, should ensure a safe and smooth execution.

After one year with almost no triathlon events, the excitement this year is even greater. After CHALLENGEGRAN CANARIA and CHALLENGERICCIONE as well as CHALLENGEST.PÖLTEN at the end of May, CHALLENGEKAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE joins the series of CHALLENGEFAMILY races in 2021. Finally real race feeling again – not only numerous athletes did look forward to this, but also the organizers: “We are very happy that the race can take place this year after a one-year break. All current signs are on “start”. As an outdoor event and thanks to the easings of restrictions, we are very positive.”

European championships at CHALLENGEKAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE

CHALLENGEKAISERWINKL-WALCHSEE represents a special highlight in the triathlon event calendar this year. The race in Tyrol will host the European championships in three different disciplines. While the European Championships 2021 in Aquathlon will take place on June 24th, the European Championships 2021 over the Middle Distance and the European Championships 2021 in Aquabike will take place on June 27th. Spectacular races and international participants, beautiful surroundings and the easy accessibility of the location promise exciting days of racing for the European title.

Comprehensive prevention concept for safety

Safety has top priority. Should this be endangered, the organizers will act quickly and take measures.
‘A lot of things are different this year. Nevertheless, we are very happy that the athletes can finally start again this year in Walchsee. The safety of everyone involved is particularly important to us. That is why we have been working for months with experts from the ministry, professional association and regional association so that we can guarantee a great and, above all, safe race for our athletes’, says race director Ilona Klingler.

There is a comprehensive prevention concept: The start and finish area is cordoned off. Access is only possible for athletes plus one accompanying person. Both must be tested negative. Unfortunately, side events such as the Kaiserschmarrn party cannot take place. There is also no catering directly in the finish area. Nevertheless, a ‘to go’ snack package ensures that the athletes are perfectly supplied after their finish.

Note due to the European Championship and the participation of many international athletes: Athletes from countries with possible entry restrictions in Austria (at the end of June) need an invitation from us. With this form, you are an official participant in our ‘high-performance sport event’ and can enter without quarantine. In addition, an online registration for the entry to Austria is necessary. Regulations for the return travel are to be inquired about by each athlete himself and of course to be observed. You will receive an email with the appropriate forms and your individual invitations from us in advance.

All further information concerning security measures and rules you will find online.

Fair rebooking and cancellation conditions

“We know that there are still some uncertainties at the moment. Since we host the European Championships this year, many international athletes will take part in Walchsee. Especially for them there are still questions concerning the return journey and the current Corona regulations. In order to provide our athletes with more security, we have adjusted the cancellation conditions and extended them by one month’, says Ilona Klingler. Until May 31, 2021 there is also the possibility to postpone the starting place to 2022 at small rebooking fees.

We are looking forward seeing you at the starting line at the end of June in Walchsee!
